Tablets from Tartaria – Alba county – Romania

In 1961, archaeologist Nicholas Vlassa initiated an archaeological site near the village of Tartaria , in an area known for the frequency with which ancient remains of pottery and artifacts surfacing, leaving the impression that they were grown there. Despite a hesitant start, efforts and expectations were rewarded when archaeologists discovered three small clay tablets that stunned the scientific world. That could change the whole course of ancient history, has made many of the scientists to look with suspicion these artifacts from clay, as too fragile to sustain such burden. Tablets were not only the triumph of archaeologists , next to them were dug and 26 clay and stone figurines, shell bracelet and some human bones, at first glance, seems to belong to an adult.
